Charlton Central Neighbourhood Watch (CCNWatch)
About our Watch - The aim of CCNWatch is to make Central Charlton a safer and friendlier place to live. We grew
from the Community Safety Action Group of Charlton Central Residents' Association (CCRA see
http://www.charltonresidents.net). We are involved in community initiatives, such as our recent
‘No Cold Callers/Rogue Traders’ Zone project, to help protect our most vulnerable residents.
How big is the CCNWAtch? - We have over 200 members who are resident in 13 streets in the Central Charlton area
(Charlton Station to Charlton Village) bounded by Victoria Way and Charlton Church Lane.
How is CCNWatch managed? - CCNWatch has two co-ordinators, Annie Galloway and Brenda Taggart who are members of CCRA’s Community Safety Action Group; however the bedrock of the Watch is the 8 street coordinators who are the ‘eyes and ears’ of the community. The co-ordinating group meets every two months to discuss issues of local community safety. We have representation on the Safer Neighbourhood Policing Panel.
What are the benefits of CCNWatch? - Members get a regular UPDATE newsletter on issues of community safety affecting our area (electronic and hard copy). They also receive an INSTANT ALERT (electronic) if there is something urgent information we need disseminating across the community.
